The Denman Island Tea Company

About a four hour drive plus a ferry ride away from Vancouver, Canada is where you will find the amazing tea shop of Denman Island Tea Company. I was introduced to this company back in 2017 when they were known as The Tea Guy. Loved the depth of detail he gave on his teas and even now I appreciate his knowledge that can be ascertained in each cup I make. Even if you can’t visit their shop I highly suggest you give their tea a try.

Company Focus: Blending and sourcing premium organic teas and tisanes.

Most popular company tea(s)?

  • Our most popular teas are our London Fog Latte blend and our Cream Of Earl Grey.

Does the company name have a meaning?

  • We changed the name from Teaguy Teas to The Denman Is Tea Co when we moved the company to the Island in 2017.  The intention was to start a tea farm and grow some of our own black, green and oolong teas.  With the planting of 500 camellia sinensis plants, we decided to change the name of the company to the Denman Island Tea Company. In the very near future, you will be able to try our Denman Island grown teas.

What is your and/or your co-workers’ favorite tea?

What are your thoughts on transparency in the tea industry?

  • I am all for providing the customer the most up to date and current info about the tea they are buying.  After being in the the upper end of specialty tea for 22 years, we have established alliances with some of the cleanest and most reputable organic gardens around the world.  I have visited many of them, and can confirm that they are indeed as good as we say they are.  We rarely sell any tea that is not certified organic or has passed the EU certification for pesticide residues.

What role does tea play in our lives?

  • Tea has been part of the Canadian culture ever since the British arrived in the 16th century. Being from the East Coast, tea is served with almost every meal so it has been ingrained into my lifestyle since I was a child.

TeaTiff Picks: Bourbon Vanilla Rooibos. I can’t believe I forgot about this rooibos. The first time I tried it I thought the fact that I could taste the presence of the bourbon was fascinating. The more sessions I had the more I discovered. But I’ll leave it a mystery because I want you to experience it too.
