From yet another traveling tea box has arisen something unique from a company I have not yet discovered. This wonderful little company hosts a broad spectrum of teas without being overwhelming. I always try to find something unique that each company offers. I do not drink much alcohol but I do love a good pina colada every once in a blue moon and their tea-infused DIY kit is a super fun idea!
Website: https://nelsonstea.com/
Location(s) Headquarters: Indianapolis, IN, USA
Company Focus:
- Our passion is producing high-quality, all-natural, loose-leaf teas which starts with the review and stringent selection of each tea, herb, spice, food-grade oils, and natural vegan flavorings utilized in each of our blends.
Most popular company tea(s)?
Our most popular teas are:
- A&J’s Root Beer, Blueberry Lemon Cream Earl Grey, Caramel Apple Chai, Chamomile Honey Vanilla, Dark Chocolate Cherry, Hoosier Kettle Corn, Lemon Ginger Honey, Orange Cinnamon Spice, Peach Dream, Vanilla Almond Coconut
Does the company name have a meaning?
- Yes, Nelson is my wife, Alexandra’s maiden name. We created Nelson’s Tea in the same month we were married (July 2012). The objective was to keep her maiden name alive since we were unlikely to find ourselves having children, and Harris’ Tea just doesn’t roll off the tongue quite as smoothly as Nelson’s Tea.
Do you participate in any charities?
- Yes, we do. We support the Pink Ribbon Connection here in Indianapolis, IN where we’re based. In fact, we even have a tea where a portion of the sales go to help IN breast cancer patients and survivors. Additional info here: http://pinkribbonconnection.org/. They accept donations directly on their website as well. Here is a link to the Raspberries & Cream Green Tea we designed for the foundation.
What is your and/or your co-workers’ favorite tea?
- Gosh, we have so many that’s a tough question! Our obsessions vary, but we drink Pineapple Melon Punch nearly every day as an iced tea with a splash of lemonade. In the evenings. we like to sip on Butterscotch Pie, Caramel Apple, or Lemon Ginger Mint. We also like to drink random teas from competitors. It helps us make comparisons and serves as inspiration for innovation.
What are your thoughts on transparency in the tea industry?
- Transparency is something that we pride ourselves on and believe every tea company should provide. We believe in educating customers, directly answering questions, and providing information on each product we offer. For example, we believe there is an unfortunate amount of misinformation and general misunderstanding on the topic of organic vs. conventional ingredients as well as flavoring. If interested, we are happy to do a deeper dive into this topic with you as well.
What role does tea play in our lives?
- In our lives, TEA is EVERY thing. It is TEAm, CommuniTEA, ChariTEA, and serves as a healthy social lubricant that brings one closer to self, friends, and families. Tea can pep us up or slow us down. We find it exciting to experience the increasing demand for natural, high-quality, loose-leaf tea, as it has better flavor and health benefits, is more economic, and much more environmentally friendly than its bagged counterpart. As a nation, since the Boston Tea Party, tea has taken a back seat to coffee; however, we believe that as consumers continue to seek healthy beverage options, the industry will continue to grow. When someone tells us they aren’t a tea drinker, our reply is always that they haven’t found the right tea or simply haven’t had it properly prepared. We are confident that we can surprise even the harshest skeptic given the opportunity!

TeaTiff Picks: Turmeric Latte. If you have heard of a golden latte this is pretty much the same. However, the key differences are the clove and allspice. Both of which I adore and the moment I opened the pouch and realized it contained the two I couldn’t wait to give it a try. It’s like a warm hug. However if you don’t like clove or allspice you may want to steer clear as it is stronger in those than turmeric.
